WWA Visits The Crimson Thread - Marcia Skinner

On May 4, 2005, 10 members of the Red Hat Women with Altitude Chapter attended a play at the Arvada Center for the Performing Arts in Denver, CO.  Joan, Marcia, Barb, Lynda, Nancy, Deb, Mary Anne, Betty, Jeanne and Lee made the drive from Winter Park.

Prior to the play, we consumed excellent Mexican food at the Alamos Verdes. Several had the giant chili rellenos.  I gave the restaurant my ok with a crisp chicken chimi.

We arrived in full regalia at the gorgeous Arts center with the usual compliments on our hats.

The play, The Crimson Thread, followed 7 women from the mass Irish immigration in the mid 1800s through the tragic Triangle Shirt fire in 1911.  Family ties bond three sets of sisters from a poor farm in Ireland through New Bedford to New York City where a terrible fire ended the lives of 146 workers.

The events of this true story are chronicled thoroughly on the internet and can be found by searching "Triangle Fire."  The actors in this play presented us with inspiring and historical situations which we can certainly learn from.
