According to the official Red Hat Society
Book-“Fun and Friendship after Fifty”:
“Laws are for Commoners-While there are no rules
(royalty, after all, doesn’t abide by rules), the Red Hat Society offers
three (extremely strong) guidelines:
1.
Women fifty years of age or older must wear red hats and purple clothing
at all official Red Hat Society events.
2.
Women under fifty must wear pink hats with lavender clothing at all
official Red Hat Society events.
3.
Members of the Red Hat Society must promise to have fun and treat one
another with kindness and consideration.”
In addition the book says “the Red Hat Society
exists solely for the purpose of having fun together! Charity work
is more suited for other areas of our busy lives.” This does not
mean that we can’t be involved in anything charitable as a group just
that our purpose should not be to have events that are solely
charitable.
