Granola - Sandra Geiser

2 lb. old fashioned rolled
oatmeal
1 lb. coconut
1 cup wheat germ
1 1/2 lb. raw sunflower seeds
2 cups nuts, coarsely chopped
1 1/2 cup cooking oil
1 lb. brown sugar
1 1/2 cup cold water
3 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
Put first 5 ingred. in large
bowl, set aside. In large saucepan put oil, sugar,
water, vanilla, salt; heat to boiling to dissolve
sugar. Pour liquid mixture over dry mixture, mix
well. Place in shallow pans & bake 300 until
mixture is dry, stirring often. (Watch so as not to
burn around edges). When done, remove & let cool.
Store in covered container. Yield: 8 lbs.
